Technical Director, Dr Yuri Zhuk is to speak on the day 2 panel of the Surface Technology Innovations for Net-zero by 2050 conference being held in Manchester from 12-13 October 2022.

Surface engineering and manufacturing sector leaders from Government, industry and academia are coming together at the Henry Royce Institute to address the importance and contribution of the sector in achieving net-zero by 2050. Organised by IOM3, the conference will also help engineers working towards net-zero learn about the latest advances in relevant surface engineering technologies.

Dr Zhuk has been invited to share Hardide Coatings’ experience of coating applications in the sustainable energy sector and to assist in summarising the conference discussions.

The emerging sustainable energy sector will face significant technical challenges where new materials and advanced coatings could be key to achieving durability, reducing costs and enabling scaled-up production.

Hardide Coatings took a strategic decision to prioritise emerging sustainable energy industries as a future growth market and is already working with leading global companies developing applications in the solar power, Li battery and Hydrogen energy sectors. Our coating has proven successful in coating blades for high efficiency industrial gas turbines, helping them operate at optimal performance for longer thus reducing carbon emissions per kilowatt hour.

The Hardide coating itself has a low carbon footprint, is non-toxic and non-polluting and does not contain any rare metals or cobalt. The coating makes industrial products more sustainable as it reduces wear and corrosion, and makes components and tools last longer – saving critical materials and reducing carbon emissions.

Tickets can be booked from IOM3 here.
